MEN'S
NIGHT OUT • January 10th |
| A
light dinner, drinks, and snacks will be served. The host requests the gang bring
a racer engine or body parts for Daniel's speedster project. There
where a whoppin 27 T members that showed up for this January's
edition of MNO. Dan and his lovely family showed us a good time as well as some
beautiful cars. His most recent project that he and his son are working on is
building a speedster. It sits now as a rolling chassis.
If his other cars are any indication the speedster is going to be a beauty. | | | Dan
also showed us the workings of a magna flux. He had a block with a couple of hairline
cracks that could not be seen with the naked eye. But he hooked the electro magnet
up, sprinkled some magic dust over the block and that crack just sucked the dust
in. You could see the crack as plain as day. | | There
was also available a virtual multitude of tummy tempting tastes to please any
persnickety pallet. There was everything from fresh, hot baked cookies to cocktail
weenies for the layman. The food just kept coming. No one went away hungry. As
Nolan said at the last meeting, "You don't have to put on a smorgasbord to
host a Men's Night Out, it is all about the camaraderie, story swappin and learning
something new. But the food and drink sure are good too, and the Hayes
gave us all of it. | |

MODEL
T'S GO TO SCHOOL • January 13th |
| On
Friday, January 13th Vic Gumma and George Lander were given an invitation to take
their Model T’s to Berkner High School in Richardson. The event was to show high
school students real “live” Model T Fords. The class had been studying the 1920’s
and one student, 16 year old Rachel Broadway had prepared a paper on the subject
of Henry Ford, and the “Car That Changed The World.” George gave a talk about
his early days in the area, which was very well received. Vic had Rachel’s father,
Mr. George Broadway crank his coupe, much to the delight of all present.
It is such a joy to share our hobby with young people. This is something we need
to do more often if we expect our hobby to stay alive. After Rachel’s presentation
George and Vic had the honor of taking several members of the class for a short
ride around the school’s parking lot. To most of those present it was a day to
remember. |

| From
the Sunshine Report ...
Some
good news that I learned was that Cliff Steely was honored with a Bronze Star
Medal at a special presentation last Veteran's Day. Wow! I'm sure there is a good
story there if you can get him to tell you about it.
