Stroll Presbyterian
North Retirement Village | | Hosted
by Terry & Renée, The Stationary Stroll on August 5th had a nominal turnout, but
the breakfast was excellent and the Think Band was very good. The residents were
very sweet and appreciated the efforts of the car clubs that participated in this
activity. |

that he tells about in a humorous and homey way. The tools were used prior to
mechanization on the family farm and home. | | | Photo

Men's
Night Out with the Ladies Too Hosted
by: Tony & Gini | | This
Men's Night Out, and Ladies, too, was very satisfying. It started off with a wealth
of T parts priced right. Tony Seely and his wife Gini are moving and it seems
they aren't going to have the storage room they have become accustom to over the
last several dozen years. So there were bushels full of T parts ripe for the pickin'.
The evening started off with a swap meet of sorts. Almost everyone there took
home a thing or two, Leaving Tony with a very small pile to deal with. Next it
was on to the garage to see the Omnibus. It is coming along nicely and looking
very close to complete, though not yet running under its own power, Tony told
us. | |

|
An amazing amount of progress has been made since the last Men's Night Out Tony
and Gini hosted. As we all bragged about how good the Omnibus looked and how far
it had come, I, with my bat like hearing, heard someone say "dinner." So we rushed
inside to find lasagna???? Could this be for us? A full dinner consisting of lasagna,
salad, bread and desert? Why, yes, it was, and what an unexpected treat. | | |
Just the cheap T parts and a few crackers would have been enough to make me happy,
but now as it was, I didn't want to leave. As I was trying to digest my 3rd plate
I looked out the window and saw the Omnibus DRIVING up the drive way as I screamed
with a mouth full, "LOOK! MAIDEN VOYAGE!" And,
like rats running from a sinking ship, we all ran outside just in time to see
the Omnibus make its way onto the street and disappear over the bridge. It seems
that Nolan had somehow gotten full off of just ONE plate of lasagna and went back
out to the garage to have a go at starting and then driving the Omnibus. We all
waited to see the Omnibus return and hope that it made it back over the bridge,
seeing that it was its maiden voyage, and all the bugs had yet to be worked out.
But in a few minutes here came the Omnibus Cadillac-in over the bridge and back
in the drive. The 1st time out was an unplanned success. I don't think Tony really
planned on taking it out that night, but with Nolan's expertise, what could go
wrong? There were almost as many ladies at this men's night out as there were
men. All but 3 or 4 members that came brought their wives. I am sure it was due
to the hospitality that Gini showed last time. As I went in the house to say my
goodbyes, Gini was reading from her grandmother's journal "From Hell's Gate to
the Golden Gate in a Modern Prairie Schooner" to a captivated audience of ladies.
I listened to a few passages before I thanked Gini and said goodnight. I am sure
I will see you all at George Lander's shop next month. The rumor is band replacement
and hot dogs, but this can neither be confirmed nor denied. |
