And
the Winner Is! | MTFCA
President, Russ Grunwald presented the "2005 Best Newsletter" plaque
to our own Kathy Harris at our Annual Spring Picnic. GREAT GOING, KATHY! I've
said it before, but I'll repeat it here, if it was not for Kathy our Web site
would not be what it is today. Thank you, Kathy, for all you have done for us. Judy | |

MEN'S
NIGHT OUT - APRIL 11th | April's
MNO was a fun success. Hal had everything we needed except enough chairs. IF you
read your newsletter (unlike me) you would have known that in advance.
Hal
has done a beautiful job restoring his Chevy. It has come a LONG way. In true
fashion of MNO we put all racial barriers aside and performed a menacing and highly
technical service to the Chevy. I took most all of us that were there. Everyone
had a hand in the repair. I am sure you are wondering what we did that was so
difficult. Well, through the vast knowledge of our many members we transformed
Hal's Chevy from a turtle hunter into a trail blazer. How did we do that you ask?
We ALL adjusted Hal's headlights. Everyone had a hand in this adventure either
by actually working on the car or by at least a "smart" comment about the positioning
of the lights. We heard every comment from, "What do you do hunt turtles at night
with this thing?" to "Good gosh man, are you looking for contact lenses?" But
through all that we got the 'ol Chevy blazing dimly candle light trial up to about
15 feet straight down the road. Hal'
also had his stable of collectables on display for us to enjoy. Cars, motorcycles,
Hal has it all. I personally was impressed with the extra garage space. You can
never have enough of that. It was good as always to see everyone there. About
25 or so in all, and Hal made sure no one left hungry. We where also privileged
to be lightly taught on the basics of ham radio operations that Hal is a aficionado
of. He had some great stories of his days of ham radio operating which he is still
currently practicing. The weather could not have been nicer, a constant gentle
breeze adorned us. So I would have to say all and all it was another successful
MNO. |

MARCH
OF DIMES FUND-RAISER - - Monday, April 3, 2006Z by: Margaret
Gumma | On
Monday, April 3, several members of the Lone Star T's took part in a fund-raising
event sponsored by Air Liquide America at their office on Greenville at LBJ in
Dallas. Short rides in a Model T were offered for a donation to the March of Dimes.
Around $225.00 was raised between the rides and matching funds by Air Liquide.
Drivers participating in this event were Royce Peterson, Bill Peterson, Wally
Shipley, David Harris, Jerry Groves, and Vic Gumma. Judy Peterson, Margaret Gumma,
and Dennis Sanford were also there to help and cheer them on! People of all ages
(from 1 year up) got to see the cars up close and personal and thoroughly enjoyed
their rides. Most of them had never seen a Model T before, much less been offered
a chance to crank or ride in one! Drivers and riders alike had a great time and
went away with big smiles on their faces! Afterward, the drivers celebrated with
a free bar-b-que lunch provided by Sonny Bryan.
