Men’s Night Out at Roland ’s was a Halloween treat. As you enter the
side gate, you were confronted with a skeleton who was steadily pedaling
a bicycle. I never did see him slow down or come to a stop. It reminds
me of a Model T driver and stop signs. Speaking of a Model T, there
were several T parts making up the bones of this skeleton. Once in
the door of Roland’s workshop, you saw green. There was a beautiful
green speedster and on the other side of that, a very old green Harley
Davidson with a green side car. (Money Green) With a plate full of
Lillie’s goodies, I slipped outside to enjoy myself again. Sitting
on the patio, I heard a noise coming from the workshop. Someone was
able to fire the Harley off and was it loud. Ear plugs would come
in very handy. The Speedster was next but not as loud and sounded
good. One could tell that Roland has spent a number of hours on both
these vehicles to bring them to this point of looking great and running
too. Thanks Roland and Lillie for making this an enjoyable evening. |

Stroll
to Waterford Retirement Village
Mesquite, TX

Great
weather that day...10 Model Ts... 19 members... good buffet lunch...
wonderful cloggers... country driving in the city |

Here's
a wonderful side note: Got a call from the Waterford a few days
after the stroll. One elderly lady resident had been ill that
year, nothing life threatening, but it still got her very depressed.
She had been lethargic and not willing to participate in outings
or in- house activities at the Waterford. She did come outside
to see the Model Ts. That perked her up and she decided to watch
the cloggers. She is still talking to the other residents two
weeks later about what a wonderful day it was. Her attitude has
changed and she is socializing again. Our Lone Star T Club is
blessed that it had the opportunity to make a difference in this
lady's life.
Thanks to all who participated in the stroll, Terry and Renée

Tickey
Creek (Annual Fall Tour)
To Waco and Crawford, TX
Via Waxahachie and Hillsboro and the Western White
House
A round of applause and a BIG THANK YOU go to Gary & Suzy and Vic
& Margaret for great success of this year’s Tickey Creek Tour. We
had great food and great roads and the weather, well, what can be
said, we do live in Texas! We departed Dallas Friday morning heading
south enjoying a beautiful day, stopping in Hillsboro for lunch
and shopping and then on to Waco. Saturday morning we backtracked
to Homestead Village north of Waco. We learned how this small community
lives, produces and makes their livelihood from this land. We enjoyed
lunch there and then it was off to Crawford. I heard that a lady
at one of the shops in Crawford showed Gary the roads that we traveled
Saturday - which was a 28 mile trip -Around The Block! The roads
were beautiful and we traveled the outskirts of the Western White
House. After a brief stop back in Crawford, it was back to Waco,
a fajita buffet and announcements from our hosts. It was acknowledged
that we had SIX first time drivers: Gerald C. (Doris did some driving
too!), Robert J. (with Candy C. - in their newly purchased touring.
This was not only his first Lone Star T Tour - it was his first
time to drive a T.) Greg M. and Glen M. (with grandson Richard)
were also first time tourers; along with Ross L. (passenger Jeff
C.), and Bill S. (with his wife Pat) from the Space City T’s in
Houston. It was great to have all of these plus thirty-seven other
members in attendance, including Marcy Z.. Now, a couple of comments.
. .the question has been asked, how many Lead Cars can one tour
have? The answer for this year is four - and thank you to all of
you that helped in this effort. We learned through creative efforts
that everyone can ride/drive when you have one vulture wagon and
numerous break-downs. Special thanks to our “trouble-trailer” drivers
- John N. & Ruth S.. They kept up with us through running out of
gas, flat tires and cars breaking down. Finally, Sunday’s drive
home - was, umm very interesting! I think Jimmy B. said it best,
“Driving in that wind was like driving a billboard in a hurricane!”
We all made it home safely, we all had a great time and we look
forward to next year’s touring.
